Nordson EFD UltimusPlus™ fluid dispensers provide high-precision benchtop fluid dispensing control for advanced applications. These network capable dispensers use Ethernet compatibility with NX protocol via TCP/IP for Smart Factory integration.

Manual Applications

Plus, full operator lockout of time, pressure, and vacuum settings prevents operator-to-operator variability between shifts.

Automated Applications

Because the dispenser features NX capability, it is remotely accessible. This allows it to be monitored and controlled from a personal computer, Programmable Logic Controller (PLC), and any plant controller that uses Transmission Control Protocol / Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) to communicate via Ethernet.

UltimusPlus I

This unit features a 0.7-7.0 bar (10-100 psi) pressure regulator and is ideal for dispensing a wide range of fluids.

UltimusPlus II

This unit features a 0.02-1.0 bar (0.3-15 psi) pressure regulator and provides greater control when dispensing low-viscosity or thin fluids.

Reduce Set Up Time

Traditionally, dispensers use mechanical hardware that requires calibration to ensure displayed settings on the dispenser are true in comparison to the internal performance of the solenoid and regulator. The UltimusPlus is different in that it features proprietary technology that calibrates each dispense. This technology ensures if the operator sets air pressure to 10 psi, it is 10 psi of pressure being generated and supplied to the syringe barrel. This feature reduces set up time and cost for manufacturers by eliminating the need to experience downtime while the dispenser is calibrated by a third party. This self-calibrating feature also ensures first-shot accuracy for less rework and scrap. First-shot accuracy means each dispensed deposit from the first to the last is calibrated for the best possible process control.

Document Your Process

UltimusPlus features an internal digital dispense log that automatically records dispense data and can be easily downloaded locally through a USB port, or remotely from a file transfer protocol (FTP) site, to further improve process control. The dispense log data allows better documentation of your dispensing process by capturing dispense time, dispense pressure, and vacuum applied. The entries are date/time stamped to help production teams identify production batches. Data is downloaded onto a CSV file and can be used for process verification to comply with regulatory approvals. The data can also be used to identify process trends and anomalies to prevent quality issues from surfacing.

This eliminates the need for production managers to physically walk to each fluid dispenser to change a setting on the actual hardware, thus saving valuable production time.

Real-Time Troubleshooting

The UltimusPlus dispenser comes with Nordson NX Client Application software that allows users to send dispenser settings (registers) directly to the unit. Users also receive feedback from the unit to detect if an error has occurred, essentially allowing you to troubleshoot the dispenser. This can help determine if an issue stems from the dispensing hardware or the machine / process setup itself. The Nordson NX Client Application also shows how the dispenser settings (registers) can be written using NX protocol, thus allowing a greater understanding of the communication process. This means you can use the application develop your own unique PLC application.

Intuitive Web Interface

In addition to programming your dispenser from a PLC, you can program it from an intuitive web interface that matches its local interface. This adds convenience to program the dispenser from nearly any device remotely, including a tablet, personal computer, or mobile device. Using either the web interface or the Nordson NX Client Application, users can also monitor the dispensing parameters remotely. This allows greater control of the dispensing process because you can see if a change was made to the settings and adjust remotely, if needed.
